Stearns (Albert T.) Lumber Company is established.
1849
Founded by Albert Stearns in Waltham in 1843, it relocates to Port Norfolk. The company subsequently grows to include lumber buildings, a counting room, stable, and two wharfs. The complex is badly damaged by a fire on September 25, 1884, and then rebuilt. The company subsequently operated by Stearns’ his sons and closes in 1968.
